ThERAPY SERVICES

I provide psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and families, drawing from an eclectic range of therapeutic approaches to meet the specific needs and goals of each client.

Psychotherapy offers a supportive and collaborative space to better understand the connection between our behaviors, thoughts, and emotional experiences. It can help relieve depression, anxiety, stress, grief, relationship challenges, and the strain of major life transitions. Through this process, you will gain greater insight into life experiences and develop tools for meaningful, lasting change.

In addition to traditional talk therapy, I am trained in art therapy, offering alternative methods to support emotional expression and psychological insight. Other specializations include: navigating aging for men and women, fertility treatment, menopause, sex and sexuality.

Common Questions

What is Art Therapy, How does it work?

Sometimes our stories get trapped in our intellect, bypassing our emotions and psychology. We repeat the same narrative — to ourselves and others — and find ourselves stuck. Art therapy can cut through that intellectualization, offering a shortcut to the unconscious, where the opportunity for change lies. It can reveal themes, feelings, and patterns, and hold them at a distance so we can gain perspective that might otherwise feel out of reach.

Art therapy requires no artistic skill or training, and there’s no focus on how “good” something looks. It’s simply another tool — one we can draw on whenever it might help.

What is the difference between a therapist, psychotherapist, psychologist, AND psychiatrist?

A therapist and psychotherapist are often the same thing, what title one uses may speak to their training. Therapists and psychotherapists should have a master’s degree from an accredited university and be fully licensed.

Psychologists have a PhD and often offer testing and assessment, but they also sometimes offer therapy. Psychiatrists are specialists, medical doctors who prescribe medications that address psychological issues.

How long will I be in treatment?

I believe that the most effective way to approach therapy is to start with eight weekly sessions And then see how best to proceed. Some people feel that weekly sessions for a length of time are helpful. Other clients prefer to come in and out of treatment.

If a client comes to me in crisis, it may be best to meet more than once a week initially and then find an appropriate cadence once the crisis has stabilized.
